An enchantingly pretty large Murano glass chandelier, made in the purest Venetian tradition - painstakingly, by hand, by a skilled glassmaker. The detailing, as you can see in the photos, is exquisite.

There are 12 lights on this beautiful chandelier, which is made from white Murano glass with touches of gold.

Conspicuous displays of personal wealth were commonplace in 18th century Venice. Chandeliers were made in ever larger sizes, with extra decorations and lights, until they collapsed under their own weight. The solution was to build a metal frame, and to surround it with smaller pieces of conjoined glass. The vast chandeliers in the Rezzonico palace provided the name for this new style, which is still instantly recognizable today.
